So what happens once you have filled in the application form?
Your application will end up on the desk of one of the 'Google Girls', which is our nickname for our desktop survey team, who all happen to be women (our MD reckons that one woman can do the job of ten men)! Our Google Girls have been trained by our Senior Surveyor and have literally looked at thousands of roofs since we started trading and they do a great job of checking the initial suitability of your home.
Using the Google Earth application they can measure the roof, check the azimuth and check for shading issues - 'Streetview' is utilised for this purpose. Whilst mistakes are sometimes made, it is a very reliable way of doing an initial assessment. We have been criticised from time to time for using Google Earth instead of physically surveying a roof. However, it is the only practical and cost effective way of doing it. We get hundreds of applications each day and we couldn't possibly afford to physically get round all of them.
