A Shade Greener

As a group, including Nationwide Solar Ltd, we now employ over 600 people and we thought we would introduce you to some of the ones who are directly involved with A Shade Greener Ltd. It’s all too easy to forget that a company is comprised of individuals, we’re not just an inanimate corporate entity. We are people working hard to try and ensure that our customers have a good experience with us, because we’re all in it for the long term – 25 years! Here you can see behind the scenes and get a little bit more information about the people at the other end of your phone calls and emails.
Stewart Davies

The Chairman and genius mind behind the company. He leads the company forward with creative new ideas. He’s a real ‘hands on’ boss and doesn’t lounge in a big executive office – unlike Henry the dog! He creates a great atmosphere and keeps everyone motivated and focused to provide the best quality of service possible.
Sarah Dyson

The right hand ‘man’ of our Chairman Stewart (Sarah reckons that behind every great man is an even greater woman☺), Sarah also heads up our very busy Customer Relations department as well as getting involved with marketing and monitoring our Facebook page along with the Nerds.
John Wade

Technical mastermind behind our company, Along with overseeing the day to day running of our large team of install technicians, John oversees the continued development of ASG products and install techniques, Ensuring the company stays ahead of the technological curve and that the products you receive are of the highest standards and installed to the highest standards.
Simon Duncan

Our Financial Director who spends every minute of his time trying to secure continued investment to ensure that our company continues to offer the public free solar panels and to ensure that our group of companies can continue to employ over 600 people. More importantly, however, Simon always brings lots of goodies for us to munch when he comes to the offices in between his many meetings.
Racheal Parlett

Our Director of Administration. Nothing escapes Racheal’s scrutiny when it comes to spending money, she controls our finances down to the very last penny and she is also the one who authorises the salaries every month, so we are always very nice to her.
The Nerds

The best looking men in our company. These ‘gods’ hit the gym 25hours a day, 8 days a week whilst also finding the time to deal with all our web based needs. They deal with all the marketing needs of the A Shade Greener Group, creating our great Facebook competitions and festive themes for the website. The team is headed by the great hairy beast, Aaron, and consists of the best web developers, graphic designers and creative minds in the world. Ever! They ride together; they die together. Bad boys for life. Reece was dismissed from his nerd duties and “upgraded” to the Google Team and now fits in perfectly as a Google Girl. The nerds clearly didn’t write their own description ;)
Anne Emmerson

Anne is our Legal Director who heads up our legal department, which makes sure that all the legal documentation is processed quickly and efficiently. With her 25 years of experience in the legal profession, we are also able to assist our customers on remortgages and sales of their property by putting them in touch with established lender/solicitor contacts who have experience of dealing with properties who have a renewable energy product.
IT Guys

These guys actually do everything. Not just IT and hardware. You can count on Glenn and Paul to fix anything ranging from a blocked loo (Mykel’s done it again!) to changing a simple bulb (although it does take two of them to do that), from a wonky chair to server failures. They’re our everyday action men and we’d be totally lost without them.
Customer Relations

The Customer Relations Managers are there to ‘nurse’ you through the entire process from application to post installation and hopefully will ensure that it is as pain free and hassle free as possible. They are on hand seven days a week and are always smiling, maybe that’s down to Magnus’ supply of his specially delicious ‘Rocky Road’ or Hazel’s dreamy chocolate cornflake buns, yum!
Reception

Lucy and Abi – Our lovely receptionists deal with all your everyday enquiries and endeavour to put you in contact with someone who can assist you. Our lines are very, very busy, so if you don’t get through the first time, try again. They also carry out general administrative duties such as arranging meetings, ordering stationery supplies, looking after guests, sorting out the post.
Post-Install

The post-install team monitors every single one of our many systems to make sure that they are providing as much free electricity as possible. If anything goes wrong they will know about it. It means that our customers can just forget that it’s there and never have to worry about it. All our customers have to do after installation is try to make sure that they use as much free electricity as possible.
Accounts

The accounts department is very busy dealing with our company’s finances, ensuring that we can continue to provide our panels free of charge. They also ensure that the ASG workforce get paid every month so that we can continue to provide our great service.
Home Visit Department

We employ 20 home visitors who visit our customers to ensure that everything is properly explained without any pressure. Our home visitors aren’t paid on a commission basis, so there is never any pressure to sign up for our system. We only want customers who are entirely content with the whole process.
Surveyors

We’ve got over 30 surveyors working for us full time assessing roofs seven days a week. When the surveys are returned they’re assessed by our in-house Senior Surveyors who take the final decision. Successful surveys are passed straight to independent Structural Engineers who then carry out Structural Calculations to make sure that a roof is capable of taking the extra load. We won’t install a system unless we know it will be 100% safe to do so. A system should never be installed unless Structural Calculations have been carried out by a qualified Structural Engineer.
Legal Department

The Legal Department makes sure that we can actually install onto properties, that there are no restrictions and that the customers we are dealing with actually own the property and accordingly have the authority to deal with us. They also deal with mortgage companies - obtaining consents to our installations – literally hundreds every month. They are very busy bees.
Warehouse

The warehouse is the base of the ‘mountain’ men and women who install our systems, opening at 6am every morning and operating like clockwork to ensure that each team installs two systems every day. Our teams have to work in some atrocious conditions in order to provide you with free systems. They are forever praised for their ‘service with a smile’ but beware, in the winter months they need endless supplies of piping hot tea or coffee to thaw out their frozen veins. In the summer, however, they generally look as if they’ve spent all their lives in the Caribbean and are the envy of their friends☺
Henry The Dog

Say hello to Henry, the A Shade Greener office dog. The only way we could keep him still long enough for the photo was to hold a piece of bread just in front of him (he loves bread). You can see the anticipation in his eyes. Henry comes to work every day with his owner and has his own little office (seriously). He gets walked every lunchtime by his lovely Aunty Jo and at 5pm (known as 'Henry Time') he gets to run around the Google team's office and all the Google girls give him a big fuss as he raids everyone's bins!
The Google Team

The applications department normally processes applications within 48 hours from receipt. They check your application and determine whether your house may be suitable for our system. We call them the “Google Girls” as they are experts when it comes to assessing a roof using the Google Earth photo that you send through.
Install Team

The installation team makes sure you actually get an install! They plan the installs, trying to bunch them into clusters according to locality and this is the team that will contact you to offer you an install date. It’s not a simple task to schedule up to 200 installs every week and make sure that it all goes smoothly.
