Hi we got turned down by one particular company when we first applied. Incidentally they have let my son down too. They were very rude when they told us over the phone that our house would "cost them too much". It’s a semi, no different from any other semi. I researched a lot of companies before I found A Shade Greener, we are getting our panels tomorrow. The whole process has only taken about five weeks in all. The scaffolders came yesterday, did a great job and were very polite and unintrusive. So all you people out there who are dithering, go to A Shade Greener. They are open, honest and efficient. From start to finish, my husband and I have been very impressed with "A SHADE GREENER" . The work was carried out professionally and on time. I thought I’d give it a few days before I got back to you, see how the panels were performing. I can only say we are very happy, they work well and when the sun is out it has surprised me just how many items they will run. I’m not just saying this but from first contact your service has been superb, Hazel seems to have been my contact, she is easy to talk to and left me feeling confident all was in good hands. I particularly hope you pass on to the tradesmen involved how happy we were with their work right from first contact to completion, they were all excellent. I have recommended Shade Greener and will continue to. One of the comments I tend to hear when I mention this is “if it’s not running all my electric I can’t see the point” well as I point out, if they go to the supermarket and their favourite brand of beans is on offer with a third off would they say “I’m not getting any of them until they are back up to full price” I think not. I’m sure you have heard these suggestions for making the best use of the electricity but I’ll mention them anyway, I have one of those strip adapters with a time plug, at the moment set 11 to 3, and small rechargeable items get plugged in there, e.g. laptops, iPods, my radio and even my caravan leisure battery. The second thing I found is when we microwave something at dinner time, reduce the power to 50%, so for example put soup on for 6mins instead of 3 but this then uses just the electricity off the panels and none off the grid. These are on top of your suggestions like using items with high power consumption in sequence. As you may have gathered, all round, very happy. P & D Holmes, Brassington

My installation was done yesterday. I welcome the opportunity of telling you what I thought in the hope that this will get back to your team. In short they were brilliant. They turned up nice and early. I was told exactly what was happening at every stage. They were polite and cheerful and what mess that was created was cleaned and tidied before they left. We have always made it our policy to take time out to send e-mails, phone calls, etc when we believe we have received good customer service. It is so easy to pick up a phone to complain and in this day and age, when customer service is not what we would always like, it is very easy to forget the good firms. We have nothing but praise for the whole team at a Shade Greener- from the first contact to the final fitting. People have arrived when they said they would (which is the first point at which you start rating a company). Your surveyor was prompt, professional and nothing seemed too much trouble for him and he had time to answer all our questions. I believe it was Tracey who then rang to confirm the dates for each individual operation, the scaffolders came when they said they would and did the job quickly and professionally with no cause for complaint. The Electrician came and he too was on time, did the job he had come to do and left the premises as he had found them. Today, with the arrival of the roofers and electrician we experienced no dramas- just a group of very polite people who were more than anxious to 'get on with the job' and get on with it they did. We were truly amazed at the speed of the whole installation. Finally, we had a telephone call from Tracey to make sure we were happy about the whole experience - and we were and are! To finish the whole operation we have received a very detailed and easy to understand e-mail explaining everything we need to know to get the best from your product. Hello Sarah, we have just had our solar panels fitted last week on our property and wanted to give feedback to you on the process. We have found the whole process very smooth and straightforward from our initial inquiry online to the final fitting last Thursday. I had my solar panels fitted on 30th September and have for the last 3 years paid a direct debit of £130 per month for both gas and electric, I have just had my bill this month and I am in credit by £170 which is a first, so as a result of this they have now lowered my monthly payments to £105 per month! Hi Sarah, My solar panels were installed on Thursday 6th Jan, by Mark and his team. They were very pleasant, courteous, quick and efficient and installed the panels in a gale and pouring rain. Please pass our thanks on to all the people involved in our installation. All the work was carried out on the date agreed and everyone was polite and efficient. The house and garden were left as they were before the installation. The weather was not the best but the installers and scaffolders did not let that bother them and we were more than happy to keep them supplied with warm drinks which they much appreciated. We would recommend A Shade Greener to anyone and have already spoken to several neighbours about the panels and our experience. Despite the winter weather we are already seeing the amount of electricity generated by the panels and some savings in our electricity, as displayed on our monitors. We are the first house in our cul-de-sac to have the panels fitted (Friday 13th May!!!) and ashadegreener have been fantastic in any queries, questions and advise we needed! Like us she has two Owl wireless energy monitors and one was showing zero from the panels. It was suggested to us by your rep who came to do our paperwork that we let you know how considerate the men who came to put up the scaffolding were. We had a cancellation, hence the scaffolding was put up before the paperwork was done. We asked them to be careful as we had a blackbird on her nest where the scaffolding would be going and they were very careful and she sat on the nest the whole time they put the scaffolding up and seemed quite happy. I have been very impressed with the way your company has managed our installation. Well, what a fantastic deal! From start to finish the whole process has taken just 40 minutes of my time as we sat with Alan who went through the information with us. The installation team have, to a man, been most excellent. Pleasant, courteous, fast working and very very tidy. And now, I am looking at my smart meter with the steady red light (ie drawing nothing from the grid) as we run this lap top, two fridges, a dehumidifier and the main boiler (has a fan). We are enjoying bright light under a layer of cloud, time and date 1500 on October 11th! I would just like to say how pleased we are with the installation arrangements. The Isolator switch was installed on 13/09/10 as promised; the scaffolding arrived on 20/09/10 and was erected very efficiently by a very polite crew. The panel installation happened as promised on 22/09/10 and although I didn’t get their names, the installers were a credit to you. A slight glitch with the electricians not arriving in the afternoon of 22/09/10 to commission the panels, but Adam and Craig arrived as promised the following morning. Again they were a credit to you. We are looking forward to some nice sunshiny weather when we will be able to see the panels performing at their best. Since the solar panels were installed just over a week ago i have been keeping a record of how much electricity i am using per day, and i am happy to inform you that i am only using 90 pence. Over a week i have used £6.30 where it was costing me around double that amount. I have tried to use the most heavy electrical items during 10 am to 4 pm and this is proving very economical. However as time goes on i could possibly improve on that too. I would like to thank every one who i have dealt with and congratulate you on an excellent idea. I have never in my life had anything for nothing, so to be one of the first households in my area to get free solar panelling is just unbelievable. Thank you again and keep up the brilliant work. The lads were professional & courteous throughout the day & observed the wife's strict "no walking on the living room carpet" rule. We recently had Solar Panels installed in our property and I would just like to take the time to say a massive thank you to the whole team. I must admit that when I initially heard about the scheme I was a little sceptical- someone offering something for nothing! We have recently had solar panels fitted for free to our bungalow by ‘A Shade Greener’. Having signed the agreement and associated paperwork a professional team of tradesmen came and erected scaffolding, fitted the eighteen photovoltaic solar panels, and completed the electrical installation. The tradesmen were skilled, highly efficient and very courteous. At every stage they ensured we were well informed and satisfied. The result was an installation that gave us minimal disruption and a cosmetically pleasing addition to our home. We have noticed that during daylight hours all our background electrical usage has been free and the electricity meter disk has not been turning. We have also noticed that on brighter days we can also turn on the dishwasher or washing machine without drawing from the grid. It is very early days, but we envisage the system will have an appreciable impact on our future electricity bills. I am delighted to report all went to plan, and I have had two memorable days generally being well looked after by your teams. The scaffolding lads chose a very hot day to do their work, but worked flawlessly and continuously in difficult circumstances, apparently needing only plenty of water to keep them going. Today's installation similarly went like electric clockwork, Karl and Liam in the morning were a joy to be with, and this afternoon's lively pair, Craig and Adam were very tolerant of my curiosity in their activities, always finding time to answer my stupid questions. Thanks A Shade Greener – I was sceptical to start with but soon discovered that there really is no ‘catch’ and that it is all free. In fact it’s better than free because of reduced day-time electricity costs. I have had the solar panels up & running now for a few days and can already see the significant benefits that the company promote. The whole process was simple and easy to follow through. From the first day I met with the representatives at their promotional stand, I found them to be very polite and friendly. After this introduction, a surveyor came round to measure the roof space and its location. Once accepted, a date was provisionally booked for the installation of the panels. Soon afterwards, we met a very nice gentleman who made us feel very welcome and comfortable with the whole process.
